OUR MISSION & GOALS
Sunshine Big Dog Rescue’s mission is to help with the rehoming of displaced Large Breed dogs throughout the Southeast.
SBDR is a registered non-profit with the state of Florida and a 501(c)3 charity. Donations are tax-deductible and always appreciated.
SBDR is owned and operated by a Board of Directors and a dedicated group of volunteers. We are foster-home based, and our foster homes are located throughout the Tampa Bay area.
SBDR is dedicated to saving and placing unwanted and neglected Large Breed dogs into permanent homes. We carefully evaluate both the dog and the potential family to ensure a proper placement for a forever outcome.
To be the voice for the voiceless, educate on the importance of spay, neuter, shots and preventatives, encourage people to be advocates for dogs, and report any potential neglect or abuse... that's the goal of SBDR.
Please Contact Us if you know a dog in need.
Wendi's been drawn to helping animals her entire life. From the time she could walk, she was bringing home stray animals to care for and nurture. Her grandmother worked at a vet office and helped encourage her love for all things furry, while her father, a deputy with K9s, fostered her love for dog training.
Whether she was riding horses or bottle feeding squirrels, Wendi always had critters in her world. During her college years at the University of Florida, she started a cat rescue, followed by joining dog rescues after her graduation. The 30+ years of rescue she has under her belt has been a mission of love and passion to have a voice for the voiceless.
At Sunshine Big Dog Rescue, we strive to match each dog with a family that best fits their needs. For our four-legged friends, we are trying to find a family to spoil them with love, provide consistent vet care and prevention, and accept them as a family member.
